Quick Start
Get up and running with Jotaid in under 2 minutes.
1. Capture a Note
Open Jotaid and click + to create a note — or press ⇧⌘J for the Quick Note window. Start writing in Markdown; you'll see real-time syntax highlighting as you type.
New notes land in your Inbox, so you never have to decide where they go up front.
2. Link Ideas Together
Type [[ anywhere to create a backlink to another note. Jotaid auto-completes matching titles. Link Note A to Note B and the reverse link shows up automatically in Note B.
3. Organize
As your Inbox grows, give it structure:
- Create a Theme (⌘T) to cluster related notes
- Create a Project (⇧⌘P) as a top-level container
- Right-click a note → Convert to Theme to turn it into a group

4. Switch Views
The same notes, three ways:
- List (⌃1) — fast reading and capture
- Node (⌃2) — your knowledge graph, backlinks, and matrix
- Canvas (⌃3) — arrange notes spatially into themes
5. Explore Connections
Open Node view (⌃2) to see your notes as a graph. The more you link, the richer the network becomes.
TIP
Once you unlock Pro and add an API key, AI can suggest links you missed — see Potential Links. To draft a concept node with AI, use Smart Node from the + menu.
