Insert Images
Paste (fastest)
Copy any image and press ⌘V in the editor. Jotaid compresses it, stores it as an attachment of that note, and writes a line of Markdown at the cursor.
Screenshots, images from a web page, images from another note — all take this path.
From the Toolbar
Press ⌘⇧M (or click the image button) and Jotaid asks where the image comes from:
- Choose File… — opens a file picker; the file is stored as an attachment
- Enter URL — type an address and it is written as
, leaving the image where it lives
Syntax
The square brackets hold the alt text — shown when the image cannot load, and read aloud by screen readers. The parentheses hold the path or address.
Loading and Failures
Image attachments render in place in the editor. While one is still decoding you see a spinning placeholder; if the file is damaged or missing, the placeholder simply stays rather than breaking the note. The original line of Markdown is always still there, ready to be edited or deleted.
Attachments belong to the note
Images added by pasting or by picking a file are attachments of that note and are cleaned up when the note is deleted. An image inserted by URL is not an attachment — whether it displays depends on that address still being there.
