Unlock Pro
This page walks through buying, restoring, and understanding exactly what Pro changes. For the feature comparison, see Free vs Pro.
Where the Unlock Screen Appears
Jotaid never blocks you behind a wall up front. Instead, the unlock screen appears the moment you reach for a Pro capability — for example:
- Tapping + New Project (creating a project beyond the Inbox)
- Opening AI settings, or triggering any AI feature
- Bulk-moving notes out of the Inbox
- Editing a locked project's canvas
The entry points aren't hidden or greyed out — you can always tap them; Jotaid explains the unlock at that moment.
Buying Pro
The unlock screen offers two ways to pay, and both unlock the identical Pro:
- Yearly subscription — the primary button
- One-time purchase — buy once, keep forever
Prices are pulled live from the App Store, so what you see is the real price in your currency. If a price can't load (offline, for example), Jotaid shows the option without a number rather than a wrong one.
Restore Purchase
If you've bought before — including on another device, or before the free tier existed — tap Restore Purchase on the unlock screen. Restoring:
- Re-activates Pro on a new device
- Confirms a grandfathered unlock (long-time users who bought Jotaid early may already be Pro for free)
Restore is safe to tap anytime; if there's nothing to restore, Jotaid simply tells you so.
What Gets Gated (and What Doesn't)
Pro gating is precise. Locked capabilities are enforced under the hood — the UI just explains them politely first.

Locked projects stay readable
A project that needs Pro isn't hidden. You can open it, read every note, and pan/zoom its canvas — only editing prompts an unlock. A banner reminds you the project is view-only, and your notes remain visible.
AI Is a Two-Step Setup
Unlocking Pro turns on the AI capability; it doesn't include AI usage. You then add your own provider API key — Jotaid runs AI on your key. So the order is always:
- Unlock Pro
- Open AI settings and add your key (AI Setup)
