New Note
Quick Capture is about getting things in from elsewhere. This page is about starting a note inside Jotaid.
Three Things You Can Create

How the three relate is covered in Projects. All three sit in the File menu; the left pane's + collapses into the ⋯ menu on a narrow window, which also holds Import Markdown (⇧⌘I).
In the Theme view, the sticky-note button on the right drops a card exactly where you are looking.
Where a New Note Lands
You never have to pick a destination first — Jotaid follows where you already are:

The two views filter themes independently
The list's filter and the canvas's focus do not affect each other: you can read theme A in the list while the canvas sits in theme B. Creating follows whichever view you are using, so the two never cross.
The Title Can Wait
A new note is titled Untitled, and you can go straight to the body.
Once the body passes 20 characters, auto title and tags — if you have it on, with Pro and an API key — fills in a title and tags for that Untitled note. It happens once: as soon as the title has been changed, by the AI or by you, it stops intervening.
Typing your own title works at any point, and means the AI never steps in at all.
Notes and Themes Convert Either Way
When a note turns out to be a container, right-click → Convert to Theme. An empty theme converts back just as easily. See Projects.
Holding ⌘N still makes one note
Holding ⌘N will not produce a run of empty notes — repeated presses in quick succession collapse into one.
